Events
We have a great line-up of events, and we hope you'll join us. For more information on any events or to share a ride, please contact us. And don't forget our monthly support meetings!
Wed Sept 24: Annual business meeting and potluck meal at 6:30 pm at UCC of Toms River. Bring an appetite and a dish to share. We will look at where we have been and decide where we are going in the next year. Annual dues can be paid at the meeting or by mail. This meeting is actually a lot of fun; but we need you to come and help set the agenda for the coming year, including a brief election of officers. This is hard to do without a quorum! If you cannot attend, please take this note as a reminder to pay your dues for the PFLAG year of October to September -- or simply make a donation to keep our organization afloat... Dues/donation form can be found at: Membership/Donation form.
Thurs. Sept 25: Freeheld Screening
A free screening of the Academy award winning short documentary FREEHELD co-sponsored by Jersey Shore PFLAG, 7 pm at the Ocean County Library, Toms River Headquarters Branch. FREEHELD follows the desperate battle of Lieutenant Laurel Hester, a dying police officer who fights to transfer her pension to her domestic partner, Stacie Andree, so Stacie can afford to keep their house. As her elected officials, As the Freeholders stand firmly against her, and the town explodes around her, Laurel races against time to provide for the love of her life -- before it is too late. Registration begins Sept 1. To register call (732) 349-6200 or register online at theoceancountylibrary.org.

Starring Ron MacCloskey as Groucho Marx in "You Bet Your Life"
Ron MacCloskey has been re-creating Groucho Marx for over 20 years, and has worked on cruise ships, radio, television, and on stages across the country. The resemblance is uncanny, the humor every bit as zany. As a stand-up comic Ron played the nightclub circuit including The Comedy Store in Los Angeles and The Original Improv in New York. He is a member of the Screen Actors Guild, American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, and American Guild of Variety Artists.
And Linda Lenz, chanteuse extraordinaire
Linda Lenz is a local singer/guitarist well-known for her sold-out performances at Sandy's Cozy Corner. She specializes in upbeat pop tunes and ballads from the modern repertoire. Linda does songs you'll recognize from the '70s to today, in her lovely and unique style.
And Petunia and Garlic, folk rockers -- or just off their rockers
Petunia Fields was hooked on the banjo ever since she rescued Trusty Rusty from a pile of broken appliances. Her mix of neo-pop, old time classic and current rock tunes on old-time instruments can't be missed, and her debut album was released in 2007. For the evening, she is joined by Garlic, and with a spicy duo like that, anything can happen.
