Wed. Sept 10: Regular monthly support group meeting at 7 pm at UCC of Toms River, with a possible visit with a staff person from John Adler's office. John Adler, Democrat, is running in Congressional District 3, which runs from South Toms River west. Come out and voice your GLBT concerns. See adlerforcongress.com.
Jersey Shore PFLAG meets on the second Wednesday of every month from 7 to 9 p.m. at the United Church of Christ of Toms River, 1681 Ridgeway Rd. (Route 571), Manchester, NJ (Directions). Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of every month. Although the group meets in a church building, it is not affiliated with any religious organization.
At our meetings, we hope to provide a safe, confidential and supportive environment in which to discuss personal issues with other people who struggle with similar questions. Every other month or so, we provide a short presentation by a guest speaker or short video.
Our guidelines provide for:
* anonymity (no one need reveal their last name to the group,)
* confidentiality (what is said in the group stays in the group,)
* supportive listening (that is, listening with empathy and without judgement.)
The format consists of three parts:
* Check-in (your first name, why you are here, and how you are doing)
* Short Presentation, followed by support and/or topic groups
* Refreshments and social time
