May 15, 2013 – Do the Right Thing: Preventing Harassment in Your Workplace
When: Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 6:30 PM
Where: Ocean County Library – Main Branch at 101 Washington Street, Toms River, NJ
Are the careless actions of a member of your organization going to leave you liable to a harassment lawsuit? Esther Nevarez of the New Jersey Division of Civil Rights will explain the law, providing real case scenarios involving not only sexual harassment, but other types of harassment that need to be prevented. Ms. Nevarez provides training throughout New Jersey about the laws against discrimination. This workshop is for business people, educators, paraprofessionals, health service providers, non-profit organizations and civil servants. Refreshments will be served. Once again, Jersey Shore PFLAG will be marching in the Pride Parade and have a booth at the festival. Details will be posted soon, but please contact us at jspflag@gmail.com if you would like to march with us in the parade or help for a little while at our booth during the day.
CHANGE OF DATE! – June 4, 2013 – Jersey Shore PFLAG Fundraiser – Performance of the play Present Laughter

Note: Our fundraiser was originally scheduled for February, but it has been rescheduled for June 4th! All tickets we sold will be honored on the new June date. If you are unable to attend the play on its new date, please email us at jspflag@gmail.com.
Join us for a special performance of Present Laughter to support Jersey Shore PFLAG! Noël Coward’s classic, as it is being performed at the Two River Theater in Red Bank, is being directed by the critically acclaimed David Lee and stars Tony-nominated actor Michael Cumpsty in its lead role. With the pedigree and talent behind this play, it’s not to be missed! The Two River Theater Company describes Present Laughter:
Noël Coward’s classic Present Laughter is a witty, elegant, and sparkling valentine to the theater, and we are thrilled to bring this great comedy to our stage with an exceptional cast and creative team. Tony Award nominee Michael Cumpsty stars as Garry Essendine, a debonair matinee idol who never steps out of the spotlight—even when his life is complicated by the demands of friends, lovers, producers, and playwrights. Director David Lee is an acclaimed stage director who was one of the creators of the long-running hit television series Frasier and Wings; he also wrote for Cheers and directed many episodes of Everybody Loves Raymond.
As this performance is a fundraiser for Jersey Shore PFLAG, tickets are being offered at a discounted rate of $30 each on a strict first come, first serve basis. All of our past fundraiser plays have been tremendous successes and we anticipate that this one will sell out fast, so reserve your tickets today! (It would be easiest to make your payment to us directly at one of our support meetings.)
As usual, we will also be meeting sometime before the performance to get dinner at a local pizzeria, so let us know if you’d like to join us for that as well!

CHANGE OF DATE! – August 9, 2013 – LGBT Night at the Blue Claws Baseball Game
When: Friday, August 9, 2013 – Doors open at 6 PM, game starts at 7:05
Where: First Energy Park, Lakewood, NJ
The Lakewood Blue Claws celebrate a night of equality with the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) community and their friends, families, and allies at First Energy Park in Lakewood, NJ, on Friday, August 9, 2013. The game starts at 7:05 PM, but doors open at 6, so come early to peruse the various LGBT tables that will be there, eat, socialize, and get ready for a great night of baseball and fun! The Blue Claws always put on a family-friendly evening full of fun and activities for all!
Jersey Shore PFLAG has a designated seating area, and we are selling tickets to the game for anyone who wants to join us! Tickets are $10 in advance (they are $12 at the box office the day of the game), and can be purchased at any of our support meetings in April and May. However, tickets are being sold on a first come, first serve basis, so be sure to reserve yours as soon as possible to ensure you get to sit with our group!
