Jersey Shore PFLAG is a nonprofit organization that aims to provide support for the families and allies of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) individuals, and LGBT individuals themselves; education for ourselves and others about the unique issues and challenges facing people who are LGBT; and advocacy in our communities to change attitudes and create policies and laws that achieve full equality for LGBT people. We are a local chapter of PFLAG National, our parent organization, which envisions a world where diversity is celebrated and all people are respected, valued, and affirmed inclusive of their sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.
We operate locally in Monmouth and Ocean counties of New Jersey. Our chapter hosts two support groups each month and sponsors numerous other events throughout the year. If you or someone you know is gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender, we invite you to join us!
2nd Wednesday of every month in Toms River
At this meeting, we discuss the full range of LGBT-related topics. We welcome parents and other family members, friends, allies, and LGBT people to attend. Our meetings are open to anyone who wants to join us, however we do encourage transgender individuals and their families to attend the transgender support meeting.
3rd Monday of every month in Shrewsbury
This meeting focuses exclusively on topics relating to gender identity. We welcome parents and other family members, friends, allies, and transgender or gender nonconforming people to attend. Our meetings are open to anyone who wants to join us, however we do encourage gay, lesbian, and bisexual people and their families to attend the Toms River support meeting.
